I was recently offered the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream of mine – opening my own restaurant. So, I’m leaving behind a decade of public service to pursue my dream while joining a growing movement to provide communities and more importantly, families, with appealing and tasty, locally sourced and healthy food options. I want to prove that healthy food can and should taste good, and a restaurant that serves healthy food can be fun!

I envision a restaurant offering a simple, familiar, farm fresh menu, featuring locally sourced and seasonal ingredients; in a welcoming atmosphere that brings people and families together. That’s where you come in. I have invested as much of my personal savings as I can in chasing this dream and I need help funding the final push to finish a remodel, purchase the last of our large equipment and open the doors to this amazing new venue.

With that, I’m taking this opportunity to ask friends, family, colleagues, food lovers and anyone who shares my vision of promoting fresh, locally sourced, farm-to-fork fare; to help fund this effort and in turn be rewarded for helping make this vision a reality. In the spirit of a community kickstarting someone’s dream, I’m stepping out on a limb and asking my friends, family, and community to invest in me.

The beautiful and historic Smith Flat House is in Placerville, California in the Apple Hill region of the Gold Country foothills, just 45 minutes north east of Sacramento on Highway 50. The Smith Flat House has two dining venues – the outdoor Courtyard and The Cellar bar which is set in an actual goldmine in the basement.
